Is the Jardin des Plantes open during the Olympic Games?

The Jardin des Plantes and all its places to visit (galleries, gardens and zoo) remain open all summer, with the exception of Friday July 26, 2024.

Do the opening hours of the Jardin des Plantes change during the Paris Games?

During the summer of 2024, the places to visit the Jardin des Plantes remain open during the usual hours:

• Gardens: open every day, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.;
• Ménagerie: open every day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
• Grandes Serres: open every day (except Tuesdays), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
• Grande Galerie de l'Évolution: open every day (except Tuesdays), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
• Galerie de Paléontologie et d’Anatomie comparée: open every day (except Tuesdays), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
• Galerie de Géologie et de Minéralogie: open every day (except Tuesdays), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The last access to the checkouts is at 5 p.m.

How to get to the Jardin des Plantes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games?

From July 18 to 25, 2024, motorized traffic will be prohibited on the banks of the Seine, as well as on the Austerlitz bridge. During this period, it is therefore recommended to come to the Jardin des Plantes on foot, by bike or by public transport.

From July 18 to 28, the “Quai de la Rapée” metro station (line 5) will not be served. Choose the “Gare d’Austerlitz” (line 5), “Jussieu” (lines 7 and 10) and “Place Monge” (line 7) stations.

How to access the Jardin des Plantes this summer?

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Jardin des Plantes is accessible without a digital pass (QR Code).

From July 18 to 25, 2024, access to the Jardin des Plantes will only be via the access points located on rue Buffon, rue Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire and rue Cuvier. The access located at Place Valhubert will be closed.

Do I need to book during the Olympics?

During the Paris 2024 Games, online booking is strongly recommended to guarantee entry to the paid visiting sites of the Jardin des Plantes. To reserve your seats, go to our online ticket office.
