[TERMINÉ] Mille & une orchidées (A Thousand and One Orchids)
February 8 - March 4, 2024
L'exposition est terminée.
For its 11th edition, the unmissable event of the Grandes Serres du Jardin des Plantes highlights the professions surrounding orchids. Come and discover behind the scenes of this passion through an abundant plant scenography!
The Exhibition
This 11th edition of the Thousand & One Orchids exhibition introduces you to gardeners, botanists, producers and amateurs who have made their passion for orchids their profession. Their testimonies take you behind the scenes to reveal the secrets of these passionate professions.
You can follow two “favorite” trails, one designed by Alain Delavie, a great lover of the plant world and editorial director of Rustica, and the other by the gardeners of the Grandes Serres du Jardin des Plantes and the Arboretum de Versailles-Chèvreloup, two Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle sites.
Admire hundreds of specimens of wild and horticultural orchids, in an impressive plant scenography of 1000 m2.
The exhibitors
There are two institutions present amongst the exhibitors: the City of Paris (Jardin botanique/Serres d’Auteuil) and the Arboretum de Versailles-Chèvreloup (site of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, the National Museum of Natural History). They are showing rare, astounding specimens from their collections. For the delight of specialists and beginners alike, five French orchid producers are exhibiting their orchids with a personal touch in the Grande Serre (Great greenhouse), featuring original plants in abundant, colourful settings.
THE ASSOCIATIONS
Representatives of two associations are available at the greenhouse to answer any questions you may have and to hand out sage growing advice. They are the Fédération France Orchidées (French Orchid Federation, F.F.O) and the Association Française, Culture et Protection des Orchidées (French Association for Cultivating and Protecting Orchids, A.F.C.P.O).
