The Jardin des Plantes (Garden of Plants) provides a range of services designed to make your visit practical and enjoyable.
Reception centres
There are two reception centres at the Jardin des Plantes:
- the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution (Gallery of Evolution) hall
- the reception centre on the Seine and Gare d’Austerlitz side in the Garden (Place Valhubert).
You will find all the information you need to visit the Garden and the various sites: galleries, greenhouses, ménagerie, etc.
Reception staff are also on hand to answer any questions you may have between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m daily.

The "Otaries", "Ménagerie" and "Valhubert" fast food stands offer a range of snacks to take away (sandwiches, crêpes, drinks, etc.) or eat in.

Lockers & Baby-changing table
Free lockers are available for visitors in the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution, the Galerie de Minéralogie (Mineralogy and Geology Gallery) et de Géologie and the Galeries de Paléontologie et d’Anatomie comparée. You will need a €1 coin that you can recover once you retrieve your belongings.
A baby-changing table is available in the toilets on the ground floor and 1st floor of the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution and in the Ménagerie, the zoo of the Jardin des Plantes, toilets.
Rest & picnic areas
Picnic tables are available for groups and individual visitors on the gare d’Austerlitz side, as well as in the Ménagerie. Two lawns are open to visitors, alongside the fencing (rue Buffon side) and the greenhouses. All other lawns are strictly out of bounds.
The lawns open to visitors are out of bounds during the winter.
