Friends of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and Jardin des Plantes
The Société des amis du Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle et du Jardin des Plantes was founded in 1907.
Recognised as a charity in 1926, the purpose of the Société des amis du Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, according to articles 1 and 2 of its articles of association, is:
“(...) To give moral and financial support to the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, add to its collections, ménageries (zoo of the Jardin des Plantes), laboratories, greenhouses, gardens and libraries, and to promote the scientific work and teaching associated with it”.
“(...) It shall endeavour to make or encourage donations or free loans in order to develop the Museum’s various services, and to acquire, in the interests of those services, objects with a scientific or historical value and to provide the institution with all the support that may help to ensure its prosperity”.
